Arrow Hoegee decat install highs and lows

Hi all,

i decided to jump and get a Hoegee decat for about £170 and only realised when it turned up this morning i needed to cut the exhaust (my first two bikes were Yamahas with modular exhaust).

With Suzuki's being welded all together i read through the whole paragraph of instuctions from Hoegee. Basically it just says chop 6.5cm back from the exhaust valve bracket.

After not being able to easily remove the header bolts i needed to remove the radiator to remove the exhaust which was all pretty straight forward. Unfortunately as the instructions are to cut the exhaust halfway down the Catalytic converter that is exactly what you are left with sticking out the end of the header/exhaust valve section.

In my wisdom i thought the Cat was an insert as im used too on my old bikes but it appears this unit is fixed in somehow from the other end. I knocked, bange, tweaked the cat to no avail so i am obviously missing something here. Hoegee obviously think i am or maybe they just assume i was going to cut through half of a Catalytic converter and fit the pipe?!?
More likely i need to chop the cat in half then drill the rest out (any ideas would be very much welcomed)

Anyway this is where i am at with the exhaust now. I currently have three inches of catalytic converter where my shiny new de-cat pipe should be.

apologies for the angles/size of the pics but i just thought i would get them up for now.

Plan tomorrow is chop the cat through the middle then drill the core out.

What do you guys think.

This is where I've cut it. Only had to weld the cable mount on the new pipe

Those instructions are nonsense- The cat is welded in and extends past the final weld and into the lower mufflet box.
I made similar link pipe see link below with my posting and pix , and the Cat actually extends into the new link pipe reducer about 15 mm from memory.


I cut right on the weld itself on outer casing

Easy way to check is to line up old setup and align end of exhaust pipe with end of your new link pipe and see where front matches with then an allowance to overlap and clamp onto cat outer casing.

I think products like this "decat" pipe are really bad.
It should *never* be necessary to "mangle" the OEM parts to make aftermarket parts to fit.

If you at some later time want to sell your bike it could mean that potential buyers would steer away.
I certainly would!

Upgrades/"stash" might be good sellings points, but then the original parts should be present. And in good condition.
