I am creating this thread to cover the ordeal I have been through the last year with my flashed ecu. Started Feb last year when I purchased the FTECU mail order flash for a full exhaust system and all error code stuff cut off with restrictions turned off BUT fuel cut left as is because they can't or won't do that. After 3 months using FTECU flash I was fed up it was terrible down low and worse than a stock bike imo. Contacted them and pleaded my case, sent ecu back, 3 weeks later they finally get it back to me. It was maybe 20% better down low but still jerky and erratic. Ran pretty good up top but it also developed another weird issue. With two bars sowing on fuel gauge the bike always began running out of fuel with maybe 135-140 miles on the clock and showing two bars left. Fill the bike up and you might get 3 1/2 gals in it and it was back running ok.
Fed up I wanted their flash out of my ecu. Not so easy as they lock it so no one but them can access. I sent in a work ticket to them on their website voicing my displeasure to this way of doing business. No reply to date. I notice they don't even show a bench flash mail in option on this bike online anymore. Figures, it sucked!
So I needed a replacement ECU. Posted up on this forum in another thread of warning about the FTECU practice. Got a few positive reply's from members here. One was from Rapido1 with a link to an ebay auction on a ecu for sale. Unknowing to me at the time was he had already sent in low bid offer for it and the guy took the offer. Meanwhile I was still stumbling around trying to over analyze the who procedure. Rapido1 offered it up in our for sale section here and it was being sent to Dano's. I contacted him and we talked it over and cut the deal. I then contacted Dano as he had already done and worked with Dano on my bikes setup. ECU was flashed yesterday by Dano and is now on its way back to me.
So in light of the latest ordeal with the exhaust and Paul this forum does indeed work. I think for the most part we have a very honest group here who enjoy this motorcycle and most importantly will step up and help a fellow member. I want to thank Rapido1 personally for doing what he did. Hopefully one day I can pay it forward to someone else in need.
I will update this thread once I get the ecu back in the bike. May be late next week I leave out on a ADV ride vacation thursday and won't be back until next tuesday. Hopefully the USPS won't lose it before then.
