Help! Loud Buzzing / Vibrations at highway speeds

Hi,

I test rode the GSX S1000 last week and above 6k/7k rpm at highway speeds, there was a strong vibration through the handlebars and a loud buzzing as well. After a brief search on the internet, some riders suggested that issue may have been with the clutch lever. So I asked the dealer to check this out.

However, the dealer just told me that "several" people rode the bike and that the GSX S1000 just simply rides like that...with the buzzing and strong vibration. Now I have seen videos of guys on the GSX S1000 on the highway and I did not hear that buzzing (which can be clearly heard above wind noise), and I can't imagine that the amount of vibration that I felt is normal (but I could be wrong as I have only been on a sport bike the last 10 years).

Can any of you confirm that the nature of the GSX S1000 has strong vibrations in the handlebars and a rather loud buzzing when above 6k rpm and doing about 60-70 mph?

I am looking to buy this bike, but I not with this type of issue.

Uh..... yeah no loud "buzzing". There are SOME vibrations, but that's pretty expected above 7krpm when that engine really opens up.

I've got an f model. It cruised at 82-85 mph when new with minor vibration (almost non-existence compared to previous boxer bmer). With having 3000+ miles now, it can cruise at 90+ with apparent ease, no abnormal vibration or motor/clutch lever/mechanical noise. I frankly don't know why Suzuki doesn't make a more dedicated touring sport-tourer out of this platform with the motor's smoothness and great mileage.

Thanks for your responses. I am going to test ride another GSX s1000 today and see if the issue was just that one bike, which I believe it is. I do 80% of my riding on back roads and not the highway.

If you have always experienced this from new, I would consider having the throttle bodies re balanced as uneven fuelling increases vibration with revs. Hopefully, a kind Dealer could claim it on Suzuki as a 'no cost to you' warranty issue.

I have the same issue.. Vibrations that come through the bars so bad that its audible and loud. I've asked a few different dealers and they all say that its the characteristics of the bike. I expect vibrations but when its a loud buzzing sound it makes question the quality of this bike.

I test rode a second bike yesterday and the same issue was there; however (as I have also read elsewhere), once I held the clutch lever, the buzzing stopped immediately. So for my case, the clutch lever was the issue. I hope this helps.
