Still considering the GSX-S

Hi everyone

I'd pretty much reached the conclusion that the MT-10 was the bike for me but the more I think about it, I'm not so sure.

Can't help but thinking how much better looking and smoother the Suzuki is and better value too. I'm currently on a Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 but want to downsize (physically) to a 1000cc naked. I've previously had the old V twin Tuono and most recently a Speed Triple 1050. Having ridden the Yamaha and the Suzuki practically back to back, I thought the Yamaha suited me better but now having thought about how the Suzuki stopped and handled better, I'm leaning towards the Suzuki again. Also the fuel consumption on the MT-10 is terrible, like 25 MPG (UK).

I've got all winter to think about this but your help and comments are much appreciated in support of the Suzuki. Just a note on throttle snatch, on the 2015 naked GSX-S I test rode, I didn't notice it at all so it's a non-issue for me. I also test rode the outgoing Kawasaki Z1000SX but found the engine quite buzzy after 7000rpm and not as exciting as the GSX-S.

Cheers!
Jim

Love the way the MT-10 sounds. That's about it. Way too ugly and the Zook is a much better value for what you get, IMO.

I like the aesthetic of the Yamaha but on closer inspection it doesn't seem very well sorted out . The parts field a little cheaper . The plastics field a little cheaper . The whole bike just seems a little value oriented . I personally am a fan of the headlights though .

I think this is suzuki is a better value in my opinion. The engineering seems more refined. The parts seem to be of higher-quality .

The one thing on the Yamaha that I really did like is the cruise control..... wish our bikes had an option for that.

Yeah, I bought this bike -GSXS 1000F with the view of using it as a second road bike, got a great deal- 180 miles demo bike for £8000.

I looked at the Superduke but was aware of some problems with this bike and because the nearest dealer to me is an hour away I couldnt do with the hassle and inconvenience, if anything was wrong with it. High speed handling is not supposed to be as good as the F. Also nearly twice the price!

The MT10 looked rather cheap, like the idea of cruise control but again, naked bikes will not handle as well as this bike.

I like the idea of all that midrange and low down power with these bikes, when compared to the F, but thats about it. Dont think you could tour as well on the KTM ( and I would be a little worried with reliability if touring in other countries ), and the yamaha would just have too much windblast.

Once this bike is set up the handling is fantastic, and it could live with anything on the road..

I loved the MT10 ! But couldnt afford the tyres every 2-3K and the fuel costs as you say. I guy I know went from the MT09 to the 10 and within 2 months had got rid as he couldnt afford the upkeep. I got the F Touring and love the tall screen, no windblast even at max speed.

My thoughts exactly. If people with ZX14s can make PR4s last over 7,000 miles - I don't see why an FZ10/MT10 couldn't do the same... Maybe he couldn't keep up with the payments as well as upkeep. Still doesn't really make sense though.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I think the GSX-S is the bike for me. It's a much more polished machine than the MT-10.
