Changing The Color Of My GSXS

I am starting this new thread 'cause I have not seen this done before on the Forum (and no one is stupid enough to spend this much money on it). I'm going to change my 2017 red/black GSXS to (almost) all black like the 2018 "Z". The difference is the "Z" is like a very dark matte grey, and I will end up with a mixture of gloss black and the dark matte grey.

Freedom Penguin had the idea first, he recently started a thread "can someone please photo shop my bike ..." to see what his blue/black GSXS would look like with some blue body panels blacked out, and it set my mind a blaze. https://www.gsxs1000.org/forum/gsxs-...xs-pic-me.html

I do not love my red/black color combination. When I was shopping to buy a GSXS, I found a killer deal on a new left over '17, and it was red/black. (I do like the blue/black combo much more).

In Freedom's thread, upon my request, another Forum Member "Lost" was so awesome to provide photo shopped images of my bike with the red tank cover blacked-out, and then also with the red headlight shroud also blacked-out.

Not only have I already ordered the tank cover and headlight shroud in matte black off the 2018 "Z", today I ordered the side covers and lowers in black. I will remain with red accents on my tail section, solo seat cover, rim stripes, brake lines and new "Suzuki" lower decals in red (instead of the current silver).

So, I'll post the transformation in this thread. Will take a couple of weeks to receive the parts.

Here's a pic of my bike now, and the two photo shopped pics, go to "attached thumbnails" below.
Slower and Slower, mike d and lost like this.

I'm looking forward to how this develops. The first F I found in person was Red/Black and I would have bought it if the dealer would have been a little more generous for a "last years model" bike, but that's another story. I found a blue for a much better deal and that's what I have now and I like it. The red/black combo looks nice too, but I think you guys are on to something by toning it done a notch. The crazy thing is a lot of my riding gear is black with red accents.

I tried to match your mods to the extent of my photoshop skills. Gave it a tail-tidy and muted the stock amber blinkers up front. Had a few minutes, though, and I just had to do it...

Wow! Lone, thanks for doing that man! And I actually like the contrast of the gold forks.

I think it’s gonna look bad ass! I have some minor red accents in the grips too, red brake lines, levers with red adjusters, and red rim stripes. I just had the foot controls powder coated black as well. The “black widow”!

Hey Lone, in the last picture, can you make the wheels red too? That’s another idea I have.

That video is epic, gave me a new insight on what to do when I wrap my pieces this week.

Chris, thanks for sharing that video, amazing that you found a Euro video demonstrating exactly what I'm talking about.

Personally, I like my idea of retaining a few color (red) accents to break up the all black. But the video definitely shows how easy it is to transform the vibe of a bike using a wrap.

I prefer to replace my red body panels with OEM "Z" matte black panels, rather than go the wrap route. More expensive but less hassle to install and will last forever.
