Suspension settings (defaults too stiff)

Hello,

I'm 5'10" with 176 pounds. I'm riding my 2016 GSX-S1000 (naked) with default suspension settings and despite the fact I like to feel no dive when braking hard I feel like I'm jumping from the seat when I hit a bump while at some speed. When I can see the bump ahead what I usually do is I get my butt of the seat a little and use my legs to absorb some of that.

I didn't setup SAG on my bike yet but I I'm not bottoming the bike as far as I can see.

Anyone experiencing the same? What are your settings?

im around 180 riding....have close to 4 rings showing around 12 clicks out from closed or 4 clicks out from stock on both...i believe stock is 8 click....rear im on 1 softest....beleive i closed rebound a bit to not get lifted out of seat at highway speeds hitting bumps....gives nice ride for my bumpy crappy roads around my way...highway its steady for my high speed rides,,,dont do track street only...dont like hard stiff rides

I never understand why people ask for others experiences but not set the SAG first?

Its not difficult and only takes 10 mins?

I know it's not what you are asking, but do the sag and then go from there - However I think there is too much preload on the forks as stock

I think the springs (front and rear) are a higher spring rate than us lightweights find comfortable. You can set the sag, but if the spring rate is off. you are doomed to a less comfortable ride.

You need to take the preload off on the rear spring among other things, check out https://davemosstuning.com/ he has some useful info for free and lots of video.

To set the sag properly, don't we need to lift the bike completely of the ground?

Can lift one end at a time - you need 2 people to lift it on the side stand
