Helmets are interesting. Different head shapes fit certain helmets better than others. For example, I have what is considered a "long oval" head and the Arai Signet
series fits my noggin perfectly. Every time I get a Shoei
, I get a red, hot spot in the center of my forehead after a day of riding. I end up taking the back of a tablespoon and pushing in/compressing the underlying foam in that spot of the helmet to make it tolerable. Usually takes several 'adjustments' before I get it just right. Kind of a nuisance.
, (Craig) I think the HJC Venom
is a great helmet to start with on your new bike. It will be good quality and you will find out if that particular helmet fits you perfectly or if you need to find something else for the next time. Some people have "oval" heads, and the Arai Quantum
helmets fit them best. Arai
is the only company I know of that makes different helmets to fit different heads. Too bad their helmets are so expensive. I just search and search until I find the Arai helmet I want on sale. Sometimes it takes several months, so I keep my 'old' helmet around until I can find the new one to replace it.
is a good place to start. Lots of people like their helmets and the quality is good. Besides, you like the looks of it, and that's a big part of riding - getting stuff you like that looks the way you want (while still getting good protection, of course.)
