Differences between California E33 bikes and E03 bike sold in other states

I looked for a list of differences between the California E33 bikes and the E03 bikes sold in other states and could not find anything indicating all the differences. So I compared part numbers (from the 2019 naked Z model bikes) and found the following differences:

ECU
Wiring harness
Fuel tank vent hoses
Throttle body assembly
Throttle body hoses

If I missed anything please let me know.

I can verify the ECU is 100% not compatible with a non-california non-abs bike.

$300 mistake for me to discover this. The non-cali bike will run with the cali ecu but the speedometer will only register "0" on the dash.

I wish California would quit 'going their own way' with regulations so all bikes would be compatible across the 50 united states. It would simplify life for owners and manufacturers. But they don't care. They think they are their own country over there on the "Left" Coast. When shopping for a used bike, I just never even bother looking at anything in California. Just not worth the hassle of their extra/different parts compared to everywhere else.

Thanks designmath for doing the work of trying to figure out what is 'new/different' with the California (CA) model bikes. It definitely might help someone out down the line. Sorry it was too late to help you out roy826. But hopefully all your ECU issues are behind you and life is good now?

Unless I am mistaken, the differences are due to California bikes having the EVAP Canister. The corresponding hoses attach to the Throttle Body and the gas tank venting runs through the EVAP Canister.

I removed mine completely & capped the throttle body lines, etc. Dano took this in consideration when he flashed the ECU.
