New owner/ Rider Medina, NY

Hi,

My name is Paul, and I just recently got into riding. I bought the GSX-S1000F for my first bike, but love it so far. I have past experience riding quads, and some dirtbikes. I only have put 10 miles on her so far, but am extremely comfortable with it. Hopefully some local peeps will chime in that want to ride. I have my licensing course scheduled for May 25th, and I intend to pass.

Welcome Paul! You are definitely jumping into the deep end of the pool for your first swim. Glad you're taking the safety coarse. It's a great start. Just take it easy and be careful out there. It's a great bike.

Lot of bike for a first one. Generally after a few months you start getting really comfortable with the bike and think you have things down pretty pat. This is when a lot of new riders will crash as they overestimate their ability. I was no different and luckily I didn't do anything too retarded but that was with a bike with less than half the HP of this one. Despite the huge power, the ABS and traction control will help you I think. Complacency kills. Good luck

As a new rider please be smooth on the brakes and gas and keep those rpms low. This is a lot of bike as everyone has been saying. Stopping skills are more important that going

Thanks for all the comments regarding me being safe! I'm very aware of the insane power this bike has, and intend on respecting it to the fullest. I do appreciate everyone chiming in though, and I got this particular one because I know that I'll grow into it. I would love to hit the track in the near future also.
