2016 red GSXS 1000 F comming soon

Hi Guys: I finally found the bike I wanted at the right price. I wanted to say thanks to Micky Blue Eyes as he tells me his friends call him. He is and has been a serious motorcycle enthusiast and racer for many years and at the young age of 80 he is sell me his bike to purchase a Super Duke. Unfortunately I don't think I will get a chance to meet him in person since I live in Williamsport Pa and he lives in St George Ut. He listed the bike for a great price there is no way I could say no to buying a single owner bike from a guy like this. After only a couple of phone calls I can tell I would very much like to have this man and his wife as my neighbors.

I am purchasing the bike mainly to replace my GSXR 750 (2014) that we bought for my wife last summer. Unfortunately her hands go numb way to soon on the bike so we figured the more neutral seated position bikes like gsxs would be a good option. We are both looking forward to riding the bike.

My only test ride on one was on a naked model that told me I wanted a windshield and the throttle was touchy, very touchy. Which I understand is the main complaint about the bike. I also understand it was maybe fixed on later models but I have not confirmed this yet. So my first order of business on here is to investigate the issue and determine if there is a solution. The previous owner said it did not occur when the traction control was set to 3. He was also a road racer for many years so his view of an issue and me or my wife's view are likely to be very different. So any direction to threads on the subject will be appreciated. In the mean time I will see how the search feature works on the this forum

The touchy throttle seems to vary bike to bike, even same year and model, so the bike you're getting could be very different from the one you rode. Partly variances in on-board adjustments, partly rider experience and expectation. Simple things to help - TPS adjustment (2016 can be checked on dashboard display) and install throttle tamer tube. You can read to your hearts content in this thread:

Don't use the "Search this Thread" button above the threads; use the VB or Google search box at the top of the right column. Not sure how that applies if you're using a phone app.

Since you're buying from an enthusiast and racer, one can assume the bike has been modded? Let us know what, if anything, has been added/changed.

Welcome I have a red/black 16 also, I love the bike. As i've stated in past threads I feel quite lucky as my bike rides very smooth no snatch whatsoever. Hopefully you get a factory freak like me..

The traction control setting will make no difference to the throttle response , it's a traction control switch only not a fueling/power control.
Firstly don't go on a first ride expecting a snatchy throttle as it may not have one and looking itfor could make it feel like it, they are not all the same , if you find it is very sensitive try a throttle tamer first.

Actually have to disagree there Nicka, There are maps for the STP at each of the traction control levels. The STP shuts down considerably for TC3 dulling the throttle response. This is also the reason Woolich advise to use autotune with TC off.

Wow you learn something everyday and it's not the first time I've been wrong lol, thanks for the correction , I'll have a bit of a play next time I'm out on the bike and see if I can notice any difference , I usually keep it off but the TC light is annoying being on all the time

Where do you find the STP maps for different levels of Traction Control? I can see a different Map for each of the gears, (7 maps including Neutral, 1-5 all identical) and then 3 others labeled Other 1-3.

Other 3 is identical to the gear Maps
Other 2 will produce very little power from 3000 to 5000
Other 1 will produce almost no power at WOT from 5000 - 6500 (i.e STP only open 4%)

I certainly can't feel that sort of difference when riding with Traction control on.
