Suzuki considering a MotoGP satellite team under pressure from Dorna

Suzuki is making its return to MotoGP in 2015, but already the Japanese brand is facing pressure from Dorna to introduce a satellite team. Dorna is pressuring every team to expand their teams to feature 4 bikes. Resources are a big part of the decision making process for Suzuki though.

“You know there are two things,” team boss Davide Brivio said. “Suzuki has always been one factory team. We would like to continue with the two bikes of course. [But] Probably in the future we will also get the pressure from Dorna to have a satellite team. Now it's difficult for 2015 and probably also 2016 because we are under development and we need a lot of resources to do that."

Suzuki will return to MotoGP in 2015 with the Spanish duo of Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales. The two have done well so far. At the Valencia test Espargaro placed twelfth, just a second behind the fastest time. Vinales was the fastest rookie coming in 21st.

Still Suzuki has a ways to go to really challenge top dogs like Honda, Yamaha and Ducati. Development rider Randy de Puniet has previously urged Suzuki to consider making a satellite team in an effort to speed up progress on the bike and give them a better chance at defeating rivals.

It was also confirmed that the factory has begun its testing program with Michelin ahead of the company's re-entrance to the series in 2016. Still, there is no need for a new frame despite having a change in tires. Suzuki should be able to adapt the current frame.

Looks like Suzuki is taking on a lot. Hopefully it all works out for 'em.

Looking forward to seeing this happening.
Noticing a lot already on their plate for production already and then they have this going on.

De Puniet had been bothering them about the same thing for the better part of the last year. Suzuki says they went back primarily as a branding thing, logic would dictate that if the reason is branding then more branding is better...no?

Ultimately branding is what it is since that involvement indirectly helps with sales and develops the image they want to impress upon people

Can't be that hard, anything to better their branding efforts
