Just be careful with any shoes or boots with laces. Not long ago I was riding the V-strom with lace-up shoes and the laces got caught when I went to put my foot down at a stop (I think on the clutch slave bleeder). I just decided I was NOT going over and jammed my foot down hard and broke the lace, got a good bruise on my ankle but saved from hitting the pavement. Now on the rare occasion I do ride with laces, I tuck the ends into the shoe, and have started taking my foot off the peg sooner before a stop to give myself a little more time to deal with something like that.

Same thing happened to me G-Dub except it was my pants that got caught on the shift lever. Bike started falling to the left (this was a different bike a few years ago) but somehow I managed to muster up enough strength to keep it upright even though I couldn't put my left foot down. Since then I have never worn baggy pants while riding.

I've had really good luck with Dainese. I have 3 pairs.
Asphalt CB2 (short highly breathable)
SSC Alpha WP (mid height - waterproof)
Freeland (high - gore-tex)

All great boots. Super comfy, but still motorcycle specific built (ankle protection, stiff sole, shift protector).
Still comfortable enough to walk around in, especially the Freeland.
I don't think I could ride a normal thick toed boot comfortably after using MC specific, but that's just me.

Take a look at TCX street ace. So and ankle protection. They look like regular boots. I've walked around in them a lot and are very comfortable

How do you find the sizing on these? They have my interest, from the reviews sizing might be wonky.

I have been using TCX square like these but not the waterproof ones for the last 4 years.
They have been doing a great job but after 20000 km I need to change. Not that they a completely torn but the shifter protection is fatigue.

I really dont know what I am going to get and I also hate boots...

The problem is that if it's waterproof it won't breathe if it's not... well it's not...

I don't own a pair, so I really don't know, but these TCXs "claim" to be waterproof AND great hot weather boots (the holy grail?). The do have some high tech Gore-Tex features. My Dainese Freeland Gore-Tex breath better than any other WP boots I've had.
If I didn't already have too many boots, I might consider them.

Went with a pair of TCX street ace air shoes and took my first ride in them this morning. First impression is good, they have better feel on the rear brake, still a little vague when up shifting but very usable. Sole is super grippy. Great ankle support, easy to walk in when off the bike. Laces are really long which seemed strange but it's needed since I have to really open the shoe up to get them on and off. Plus the extra tucks into the shoe easy and securely. The Astars roams will be relegated to long trips that include lots of highway.

After many years I finally pulled the trigger on a pair of Daytona boots - can't fault them so far!
