That was one of the reviews that helped me decide. I had narrowed it to the Ninja, FJ09, and Gixxus. It also helped that I was just more familiar with Suzuki in general and the lower price sealed the deal.
I ALMOST bought a ninja before I read those comparo's. I had my heart set on one because I loved my kawi's I had before. Went and sat on a few and rode the gsx home. No regrets
Suzuki every time just for the ease of home maintenance wins me over....that sort of stuff is never considered during test ride comparisons on any bike.
Never buying a Honda or kawasaki again ...nightmare bikes to work on and parts are overpriced
gsx... is just synonymous with high performance bike. Easy of maintenance was the number 3 reason I bought this bike. The test drive was #1 . Value overall #2 . #2 may even be its strongest attribute.
A few things put that Ninja out of my mind compared to the GSXS. One it's heavier , the seat it just didn't feel good. Vibration from what I read the Ninja is buzzy . I had a old Concours and that bike was buzzy as well.
The day I went to pickup my Triton Blue GSXS-1000A, the dealership had a Ninja-1000-ABS faired version(green/black) on sale for a couple of hundred cheaper. I always liked the looks of the Ninja1K, and had almost decided on getting one before I researched a bit more on their forums/reviews. The weight, complaints of buzzy engine and the Kawasaki green made me rethink. The only thing I might lament is the lack of wind protection after riding in cold weather for ~200miles, but nothing else.
