So i have a 2016 naked. It has 26xx miles on it. Recently (within the last 2 rides) theres been a difference in the power.
Before it seemed very raw, if that makes sense, now it suddenly feels smoother? With less urgency it feels like. Im not sure how to describe it. It still pulls but it almost feels like somethings off. Not kicking any lights or anything. And im noticing the flat spot in the 4.5k-5.8k range way more like its worse almost.
I’d go with fuel first, run a tank through with some good stuff and then start looking at other stuff. Filter, exhaust valve etc as has been said.
A plug check can always give you some good clues as to how the engine is running
Could be a bad batch of fuel I suppose. It happens. If it doesn't clear up with "good" gas from another station, then I'd guess one of the exhaust valves is 'sticking' as @mike d suggested. I got a tiny little pebble in the exhaust valve of my CBR929 and it got 'stuck' in place. It did throw a dash light code, so I'm surprised you're not getting one, but maybe its just a matter of time? Or, it threw a code but not on the dash for you to see it?
It might be an intake restriction of some sort, too, (again, as @mike d suggested.) There is a 'flapper' valve of sorts for the intake. Maybe lift the tank and remove the top of the airbox and look for anything amiss with it. Check for oil up in the filter? Maybe a plastic bag got sucked into the intake snorkle? Mice set up shop in there? Stranger things have happened.
I hope its just a bad bit of fuel. That would be the easiest 'problem'. Try a new gas station that sells TOP TIER fuel (green and white marker on the hose or pump itself that says "Top Tier".) Get PREMIUM, too, just to be sure you are getting good octane stuff in the bike. See what happens after running it for 100 to 150 miles on the 'good' gas. Keep us posted.
I notice this on my bike pretty often. Not sure if it's exactly what you're referring to, but sometimes my bike feels super raw, sounds great and roars, and other times it just feels and sounds...meh. more smooth and buzzy than deep and raw.
My recent guess is mine has something to do with the exhaust valve, and I plan to do some experiments.

That's an observation I've had with gas-powered cars for years. I think a huge factor is the air- the temperature, the humidity, the density, things like that. Some days my Mustang just runs fantastic, others not so much.
Now, interestingly, my Chevy Volt electric car will run the same regardless of the weather. But it's got no combustion happening so the air's properties play no factor at all.
There is no flapper valve in the intake. The intake is straightforward. Two snorkels breath through two big holes in the frame, air gets filtered and ingested through the throttle bodies. Nothing to fail other than a dirty air filter.
The OP is just getting used to and more comfy with the power of the 1000.
Btw, if you are at 2700 miles, start looking at tires NOW. They stock tires won't last much longer.

Ya got me. Poor 'phrasing' perhaps. I was referring to the 'partition' in the airbox. Per Suzuki:
"The air cleaner has partition plate inside the box, which guides air into the box, that increases intake efficiency and reduces intake noise."
If something were to hang up on the 'partition' it would affect intake airflow. That's all I was getting at. Long shot, I know. Figured since it was a sudden change in the way the bike felt while running, looking at the airbox/intake tract wouldn't hurt.
Found this when I pulled filter/ECU this spring. Only had the bike for a couple months. Bought it new off the showroom floor. Didn't come from my garage.
Just bizarre. And you never know until you pull things apart. Suzuki - I love ya...and I hate ya. You make great bikes but your QC is pretty hit and miss.
I installed it and initial impressions on the first ride were mixed. I'd say a bit less throttle snatch but then I felt like I lost some of the mid & top end rush. The exhaust didn't sound as good as before too (less bark, more smooth in sound).
The 2nd ride was different. The throttle felt like it always has (although to be honest I had gotten used to it before installing the BP &/or it's gotten better such that I'm fine with it now). It felt like the bike was torquier through the mid-range though. Odd but it seems like the bike needed a 2nd start & ride to adjust?? I went the tankful to see if there was an effect on fuel economy and there was not (same as before). The exhaust went back to more bark too.
I ended up removing it but may re-install again to figure out which I prefer but without objective dyno data I'm confused to say it's any better or worse in all performance areas, to be honest.
Maybe different temps played a role?? If it wasn't a bit of a chore to get to the IAT sensor I'd do it on the same day but it is a chore getting at it (1/2 an hour re/re from start to finish I'd guess).
For me the verdict is out. For throttle snatch, I'm fine with it now as it is with no BP. I'm not sure if it was supposed to provide any performance benefits or not but if it's a wash, I'd leave the bike as delivered by Suzuki.
