Hello Guys, I was wondering if anyone had luck trying to fit a GSX-R1000 wheel into the S. Might be able to source a set for cheap but i'm not sure about fitment. I'm a machinist and can probably work out minor spacing issues but any input would be appreciated.
Not expecting anything to be a direct fit but I was hoping the GSX-R wheels to be a possible match with proper machining and custom spacers. I don't need the ABS disk which might be a problem for some. I can also machine just about any spacers and bushings on my lathe. Just need to find out how far apart from the rim the sprocket and the disk are standing on the R wheels.
I remember reading somewhere that the GSXR 750 rim are similar sizes but the hubs and brake carriers likely differ due to the ABS ring mounts.
Can't see other model rims being that much cheaper when you take the extra labour time involved making them fit.
GSXS has been out long enough for 2nd hand bits to be availabe
aprilia rsv-tuono or gsx-r older version (like 600 97>95 , 750 96>05 , 1000 01>04 , busa till 07 , tl1000 S and R , sv1000 ) are the best start point , front rotors are not matching as rear isn`t
but may is possible use some newer gsx-r rear caliper hanger to adapt the little disc
as in front pass from 310 to 320 is easy with four 5 mm spacers
Reason for asking is that I can get a set of BST rims from a 2007 R for a song and a dance. Would end up being much cheaper than buying made-on-order, brand new carbon wheels with a 6-weeks+ buildup time.
