Yea, ages ago when I had my GSX-R600 one of my riding buddies was behind me on his GSX-R1000. I was wringing it for all it was worth, he casually pulled up and matched my speed, looked over and rolled on and off he went. So easy. Before he looked away I gave him the finger though. :D

I'm riding in the beginner group. There was a guy on a Kawai 300 race bike, that was faster than me, but couldn't pass. One lap I noticed him and let him by. I then proceeded to ride down the back straight in his blind spot, sitting bolt up right with my left hand on my hip. He was in a full tuck and looked back at me. I felt a little bad.

Ride up against one of those KTM 390's with a competent rider on a tight track. I hear they aren't so reliable but they are great little track machines.

The 390 is a great little machine, and is the perfect thing to do the whole "ride a slow bike fast" routine with. I have a couple of friends who've sold their SV650's and picked up 390's for track bikes, which to me says a ton.

Yes, yes it does. Too bad the 390 won't have that SV reliability. But then, that's a high bar to try to reach anyway.

I had a SV650X as a loan bike while my GSXS1000F was in for a service. It was a lovely bike to ride, it felt tiny, light, nimble and supremely flickable. Unfortunately it was A2 restricted to 47hp and performance was dire. Suppose the duke 390 would perform about the same but maybe handle better. Not sure I could cope with the lack of grunt though.
