I am one of those that thought the BKing would be the perfect sporty naked bike, but found it just too heavy for my liking. (I kept the stock exhausts but I tried not to think about them---ha, ha.)

I was very excited when the GSX-S 1000 appeared, but I had two other naked bikes (02 Bandit 1200 & 03 SV650) that I couldn't bring myself to sell, and I was thinning the herd after being up to 7 or 8 bikes.

Then I was in one of those Northern California fires and lost all my bikes, and car, and home. It was a perfect opportunity to buy the GSX-S 1000. And so after about a year of dragging my feet, I bought a used one.

And? What do you think? BKing was on my list when I decided on the GSX-S. I don't regret my decision but I do still want to ride one of those big bikes. Sorry about the fire, but welcome to the board.

Wow, not a good way to end up with a new bike. The fires in Ca have been insane. I hope you have a home / nice place for the new GSX-S. Welcome to the forum.

Thank you for the welcomes, everybody.

My BKing was silver as well. I bought it at a big discount when the recession hit.
Recessions are good for some things, I guess.

Of course the BKing engine was a big pussycat. It seemed a LOT quieter than
the GSXS, and much faster. Being bad for brief moments on the GSXS, I have seen
maybe an indicated 105 mph. BKing speeds were often over 130, indicated. But I was
younger, probably a lot badder then--ha, ha. I don't think my license is in
jeopardy with the GSXS. It is very fun under 70 mph. A good thing. It is a street bike, right?

And the GSXS is a LOT lighter, more fun on tight roads, which is what I prefer.
The BKing could be hustled through turns at speed, but I remember the front
losing traction a time or two, and often gave the feeling that expensive rubber
was peeling off the tires trying to control the weight. (BKing was about 580 lbs,
the GSXS around 465?) The GSXS seems to demand less from its tires and the
gas mileage
(according to the computer) is great, sometimes almost 50 mpg. I didn't keep the
BKing more than a year.
I expect I will keep the GSXS for at least 10, probably longer.

I have both currently and have to say I'm starting to enjoy the GSX s1000 more and more each time I ride it. It's less fatiguing in the tight stuff and even though it doesn't quite have the punch of that Busa engine there is still enough to get you in trouble real quick. LOL.

Interesting arm chair argument there in your post. What if both the GSX-S1000 and the B King has been released at the same time, (with the same emissions) - which one would be the winner with the critical Press & buying Public ?

Winner? Based on sales, we should be talking about which one would be less the loser. Neither bike has sold very well.

That Mod approval is a site owner thing. It will go after you post a few. All new Members get it (or are supposed to) to screen out spam.
There's no active Moderator here, so your replies just go to limbo. I think around 5 up posts are needed before a Newbie is automatically in.

I saw this morning via YouTube that Suzuki had a few Naked GSX-S1000's on the floor at last weeks 2020 EICMA Show in Europe.
Didn't spot the F though, that may mean lack of room, something else or the author just wasn't interested (no change) and video edited it out..
There was no displayed GSX1300R Hayabusa apparently as that was mentioned.

Top
