I've seen many of the posts complaining about the rear shock on our bike and I've been contemplating whether I want to do something about mine. Honestly, I've never upgraded any suspension parts on my bikes because I've never been a "serious" enough rider to justify the cost. I don't do track days. However, I do occasionally ride aggressively on the backroads when there's no traffic. Roads around here are not the best and on more than one occasion I've hit a bump that felt like it was going to throw me over the handlebars. Other than a shock replacement is there anything at all that will help or at least buy me some time?

See if you can lengthen the spring in the back from what it is now using the collar back there ... a spring that's not wound up so tight should give you some more comfort.
