Best full exhaust system with bags?

3472 Views 156 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  ggetzoff
I am about done waiting for a decent low mount system (not interested in M4). Are there a couple that are far enough below the bag? I guess I can put some kind of heat tape on it. I don’t use them often, but I want to make sure I don’t have to worry about melting it. I also have noticed bikes make more power with a full exhaust with a longer muffler and I don’t have to worry with it being too loud. Thanks for any input. Considering Lextek and Delkevic. Yoshimura would be on the high end price wise.

Anyone have the Yosh full system? Trying to see a pic of one to see how close it would be.
Just found Ixil USA has a header and slip on that is low mount style for $800 shipped. I believe I am between that and the Dominator low mount that's about $580 shipped. Just waiting to hear back from Ixil about the DB levels. They include two DB reducers, but I know a lot of those kill power.

DB killers definitely kill power. The one time I installed one I couldn't believe how much power it lost. It was quieter, but the bike felt like it couldn't breathe or something. Didn't like it at all.
So I will stick with looking for something that is not crazy loud without a db killer. Thanks!

I have just installed the LEovince. We put some heat tape on the panniers. After a short ride they got pretty warm, which is quite alarming. I will probably modify the exhaust to point down. Otherwise on a longer ride, I will end up with a hole in the pannier :)
I called Woodcraft to get a quote on a Hindle system with the Evolution series muffler. I don’t love the looks of that muffler, but I don’t think it will be loud even without a db silencer in it due to it’s size. Just waiting to hear back on USD pricing and availability.

I just heard back from Kevin at Hindle. It ranges from $700-976 depending on the muffler/silencer style, the megaphone being the least. They offer it with a carbon fiber tip. Then there's the Evolution muffler in stainless, carbon fiber, or titanium with carbon tip. He's checking with Hindle to see what the DB levels are between the two silencers without an insert. Never heard back from Ixil USA.

That's not bad looking. I can see the carbon fiber muffler hanger wrapped around the slip-on, but I can't tell where it's attached to the bike? Seems like they could have reused the original mounting location on the rearset where the factory slip-on attaches, but they didn't.
It mounts in the same location as the factory one from what I can tell, or close to it.

Not in the pictures it doesn't. Unless it's missing the mounting bolt and the hanger that wraps around the slip-on is out of place. The factory slip-on attaches to the hole with the rubber grommet at the back of the right side rearset, just above the slip-on in your pics.
It did look like the bolt was missing.
It's worth noting that the Dominator system has the muffler welded on. I was heavily leaning towards that one until I learned that detail. If something damages the muffler, you'd have to get it cut off and then hopefully find some other one that fits. I'm not sure I want to roll that dice.

I e-mailed Yoshimura USA and they told me that they will not be making a full system for this bike. Only a slip-on. That really made me sad, Yoshi goes with Suzuki like peanut butter with jelly.

The Brocks systems will fit, but I believe they're all loud and I'm not sure if they have quiet inserts.

I've read too many bad things about Black Widow and Delkevic systems, and I think both use smaller diameter pipes.

Lastly, what do you have against M4? It sounds amazing and it's far away from the bags. You can also get a quiet insert for it.
I can’t stand the look of the M4 muffler. I actually like the megaphone style on the Hindle. Keep in mind the systems for the previous gen fit this bike.

Do they fit exactly without any modifications or any spacers anywhere? And if so, I assume you mean the GSX-S1000F, or do you mean GSX-S1000? And which years?

Last I heard/saw, the Brocks system for the 2020 GSX-S1000 required spacers to move the radiator further away from the headers, which is why I'm asking.
I’ve heard a few people say they used spacers on the radiator, which is no big deal. The exhausts are the same for all the gsxs 1000/f’s that I’ve seen.

I don't know who told you that, but the existing Yoshimura system for the previous generation GSX-S will fit the new bikes, as will any other full system. There is no difference between the old or new naked bikes, the F models, or the GT models as far as the exhaust fitting or not fitting. All one in the same. There are differences between the old gen and new gen in regards to their factory exhaust systems, but not the aftermarket systems. The aftermarket systems will fit either generation.

For real? I e-mailed Yoshimura USA and got a reply from a Sales Representative.

So you're saying this will fit a GT without any modification? GSX-S1000 15-22 / GSX-S1000F 15-20 Race R-11 Stainless Full System w/ Metal Magic Muffler

Because if so... hot dang!

Most of them have done no research on the new bike, so they fail to realize it’s the exact same frame, engine (externally anyway), swing arm, and therefore, exhaust. Here’s a vid of Trevor’s previous gen. You can clearly see the footpeg mount.
