Best full exhaust system with bags?

3948 Views 156 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  ggetzoff
I am about done waiting for a decent low mount system (not interested in M4). Are there a couple that are far enough below the bag? I guess I can put some kind of heat tape on it. I don’t use them often, but I want to make sure I don’t have to worry about melting it. I also have noticed bikes make more power with a full exhaust with a longer muffler and I don’t have to worry with it being too loud. Thanks for any input. Considering Lextek and Delkevic. Yoshimura would be on the high end price wise.

I ordered the full M4 system, it'll be a few weeks before it ships, and probably another week or two before I have it installed and the bike tuned. I'll let you guys know how it all works out.
Then notice the length with the current GT / S after the hanger:

That corresponds with what I experienced and why Dominator states the the previous gen will not work.
Interesting. How have the others who have used the previous gen systems made them work? I've seen pictures of some new bikes using old systems and they were all bolted up as they should be. Someone here has an M4 system off their old bike on their new bike. If I remember correctly, they mentioned that it was a direct swap.

I think using a header designed for the previous generation bikes would work just fine as long as you're also using a slip-on designed for the previous generation. You just can't mix and match them. Headers from the previous generation won't work with a slip-on for the new generation, and headers for the new generation won't work with a slip-on for the old generation. If you use the slip-on designed for whichever generation header you're using, I would think everything would line up as it should.

I did and they told me they are different, but he couldn’t tell me why. I left it at that.
You could buy the scorpion pipe set and then add the Dominator silencer.
All correct, they would have to be matched by generation. I made it work and that was a super inexpensive project (cannot factor my time).

That's easy enough, then. So the older bikes can use headers and slip-ons designed for the newer bikes, and the newer bikes can use headers and slip-ons designed for the older bikes, just as long as you aren't mixing and matching between the two. Good info for those with new bikes because it gives them way more options being able to make use of all the full systems that are already available for the previous generation.

The “Swiss Army Knife” option is for Dominator to do a link pipe then people can try any silencer that is long enough (both in body length and pipe) and also run with or without the forward cat cell. That would allow people to really customize the experience.

I did it but most people aren’t going to do that. It wasn’t hard but I have the stuff to do something like this.

Thanks for looking into this. I will tell you I saw some companies who had the same part number for the previous gen bikes for the new gen, then changed it. Not sure if they assumed they were the same, or realized they weren’t then made changes.

Not surprising, it was a trick question for everyone because the bikes have been the same for so long.
The stock exhaust works and fits the factory saddlebags with no alterations, while also not invalidating one's warranty. It's also "free" in the sense that you pay nothing extra on top of the cost of the motorcycle.

I feel this would be obvious after 8 pages of discussion.

The stock exhaust also sucks. 😆

Exactly. Mr. Party Pooper always has to chime in because he hates the fact that we modify our bikes.
Can’t help but notice that.

Not sure how you could tell! 🤔

He's the only one on my ignore list, and he made the list day one of me being on this forum. People like that are miserable creatures, wishing to spread their misery onto others with their woke opinions and do-as-the-government-says attitude. You find them on every forum. I LOVE modifying my vehicles, the more, the better. In fact I have a completely derestricted and tuned sports car that is loud as ****. I like to pull up to electric vehicles at stop lights and just let my engine bounce off of the rev limiter. The noise is glorious and I'm making up for whatever emissions they think they're not producing. Mark my words, NOBODY who buys an electric vehicle understands how batteries are made.

So fellas, modify away, tune these bikes, make them LOUD, enjoy your life, be free.

Hit the nail on the head with everything you said. Haven't added him to my ignore list yet, but it's coming.

This thread is actually very valid: in the very unfortunate event that someone drops their bike they can look here for replacement options. Also, they can find out what mods have been successfully done to the exhuast system, such as keeping the front 02 and front cell for a quiter custom setup.
