It’s fine. I don’t really notice it for more than a few seconds on hot start

it’s a design change. People are positive it’s cam tensioner and low and hold it’s a new design change on our model.

woildnt worry about it. Many models do same thing. BMWs etc

is it possible when they changed parts, that they needed to change the cam to accommodate?
maybe the cam didnt allow old tensioner to work

For what it’s worth, my 2020 Katana makes this noise as well. The cam chain noise happens for ~30s during startup and goes away later.

I wonder if the katana got the cam tensioner before the 2021 model did. just a silent update

Mine suzuki gt 5500 km.started with this noise att 1000km .never sounds Cold. Or if l let it rest four an our it is silent. only att start up hot The noise vill be Therese four 10-15 sekunds

same here. I think I started noticing it around that time. but I dont typically do many hot starts so maybe it did it sooner I just was unaware

at least, if this ever becomes a recall, we will all have it repaired andit seems every bike has been impacted by this sine 2020 katana on.

Since this sounds like it has been going on a couple years has anyone spoke to a dealer about it ?

if it aint broke dont fix it seems to be a lot of riders motto.
if it started with 2020 katana, and theres not a lot of the owners, its possible not enough people reported it if any.

Do you know exactly which part of the engine the sound is coming from?

Is it possible the starter motor is taking too long to disengage?

to me it sounds like from the cam tensioner 100%

I watched a video about a BMW bike that had extremely loud cam tensioner, and said it works fine, and never had any issues of failures on any of the models, just inherently noisy by design, but it was annoying so him and his son made a new tensioner adjuster for it to silence it.

so other than being noisy, very possible its fine.

just dont see why someone would change from a previous working model that didn't make noise.

It’s lean at that rpm I am reading people are going too add fuel in the 5000-5250 area to reduce vibes

I just want to know longevity issue. I havnt ridden bike in a week since ecu is gone
I will report any changes with the restrictions and such removed doubtful makes any changes that I will notice other than fan temps kicking on at 205

At 600 miles I went full Ham as it had fresh oil, and I was changing it at 1000 to full syn. I don’t know if that caused my noise Idr
