engine bogs and surges intermittently

looking for some insight about my engine bogging down then surging. the problem does not happen all the time. when I'm pulling out from a stop under light Excelleration I have a drop off of power around 2500 rpm then the engine starts surging, if I crack the throttle hard the engine powers though the surging until i get to a cruising speed then starts surging again. it happens in all gears and varying rpms. my bike only has 2k miles and is all stock except for a scorpion slip-on. the frequency of the problem has slowly increased over time. the bike is still under warranty but i do not trust dealerships and looking for some things i can possibly check before I take to them.
