Fuel Gauge

The last few times I have been out on the Katana the mileage indicator seems to be taking a long time to go up. I will fuel up and it might say 50 miles but only after about 10 - 15 miles it goes up to 97. Just wondering if anyone else has the same issue.

If you mean 'range' on the trip computer, what happens is that as you ride down the road the average economy increases from say 35mpg to 40mpg. The trip computer multiplies this by the measured fuel in the tank and generates a range to zero.

I find when I fill up [and i reset the trip counter B], that i'll cover 35-50 miles [less if thrashing it] and the range will stay at about 130 miles, then it starts to dropping at that point.

When is says range is zero there is 10-20 miles left [maybe more], but I avoid that as pushing motorcycles is a kids game.

Cheers for getting back. It's strange it always used to go right up to 100 but its only recently taken ages to go up.

When you fill the tank completely, your range only goes up to 100 miles? Mine typically goes up to around 160 miles or so and I'm not easy on the throttle, so I would imagine it going closer to 200 miles if I was really easy on it.
Yes but the tank on the Katana is a lot smaller than the standard GSXS. Only get about 110 miles to a full tank. That's the only reason it only goes up at its highest to around 100.

Yes, I forgot about that!
Does anyone know the "real" fuel capacity of the GSX-S1000? As in, how much fuel can you pump in from empty while on the side stand, before the pump cuts off?

Not sure. I pull up to the pump and fill mine while sitting on it. No need to get off the bike and stand next to it. It's faster to just stay on it.
