Since rates will vary, i'll go with mentioning my preferred insurance company... state farm. I usually get good rates from them. Plus I guess it helps that I have a house and car with them as well.
I can't say what the insurance rate will be but it should be comparable to the rate for other similar bikes. Do a search to see what other bikes like the gsx s1000 are getting insured at and start from there.
I wonder if GSXS will be affected by the reputation of the GSXR? Its well know the Gixxer is the squids weapon of choice and insurance rates have altered accordingly...

Good point, hopefully not but you never know. You can always try going for one of the smaller insurance companies that will be easier on pricing if the bigger one's are harsh.

Good point, there are after all so many things that factor into what rate you get.
Even your credit rating, one of the more not so obvious one's that not a lot of folks are aware about.
Going through a Z1000 forum most guys are getting insured for less than $1000 per year. I figure we're going to be looking at a similar ballpark for the GSXS...

Sure seems like that's what it might be around, i wouldn't mind paying that much annually.
That really isn't that bad for insurance cost. I was expecting it to be a bit more actually, so I guess I shouldn't complain at all.
really dependant on who you are, how you ride and what your record says. I've seen guys get quoted near $5000K for the CB1000R and others under $1000 for the same bike...

Due your dilligence before putting any money down on this bike FORSUREEE
It will be much better than Gixxers guys, its not in the sport bike category...

Exactly, many factors to an insurance rate, enough that not even an exact cost can be mentioned.
basically what ever mentions of what insurance could be like will really be useless due to all the factors mentioned.
Just paid £143 for the gsx-s f fully comp

So has yours been registered then? I thought you couldn't insure it until you knew the reg number?
Dealer gave me the choice of 6 reg no's last week, not much to chooose from but at least got the insurance so they can tax the bike,
New tax laws are a joke. Dealer used to be able to tax bike for you.
The £135 OTR price add-on includes 6 months road tax. As long as it's insured, they will be able to (and should) tax it for you. This is exactly what happened with other half's new car in March.
jesus, insurance sure is expensive in the states!
Just paid £146.00 fully comp in the UK
Had to pay £88 to change my insurance from the CB1000R to the GSX-S1000F for the remaining 7 months, not too bad :)
Bennets charged me £50 to cancel my bandit Insurance so they lost a customer!!
