Great News!

We are happy to announce we are improving security across our network and adding Secure Sockets Layer or SSL to the site. This means going forward you'll see Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS); the secure version of HTTP, the protocol used to send data between your browser and the website that you are connected to. This means all communications between your browser and the website will have another layer of encryption. We take the security of your data seriously so updates like this do happen from time to time. There is no downtime or major issues anticipated in this change. If you do notice anything about the site operating not as it should please make sure we are the first to know. You can send a PM to this account with details and we can investigate. Thanks, and if you have any questions about this let me know.

Cool! I kinda wondered about that when I first signed up here, seemed strange to not have it.

Welcome to setting an alert to remind you to renew your cert before it expires. :D

Is this the reason that image links to external images don't seem to be working?

Works on the mobile version of the site but not desktop, every image I have ever put up has disappeared
Interesting. Paul, it looks like your hosting provider isn't using https as my https links using smugmug show up fine. Wonder if there's a setting in the forum software to allow non https external linking?

Looks like a couple of plugins and fixes out there to rectify the http images on the https forum. I bet that'd fix it right up.

I can sort my future images to be https but that means lots of previous (hopefully useful) images lost to forum members
Where are your previous images hosted. Most providers should offer SSL support at this point.

Yea, but he has a gazillion links to helpful images in numerous posts that would have to be edited.

For some reason lately ,when I click on a members 'garage' feature ,nothing happens. It won't open the page. Started about a week ago.

I've tried with images hosted by Google using SSL and they don't work either, but as Jason said I have posted loads of images previously and they have all disappeared. Test images below

Google Image below using HTTPS

on my site, using HTTP

Paul, something wrong with your google image. When I try to go to the link in your IMG tags it gives me a 403 error, so not an issue with the forum.

See if this works, never tried sharing from google before myself. Https link.

My mistake, can't link to these images in a forum.. My images will be https in a few weeks, just a pain to go through every image I've posted and change the links.

I'm not sulking, just don't see much point in posting without being able to post images to support the post

Sorry for the inconvenience,

Soon more websites will need to be https otherwise, google and firefox would block on their end. @RobertO I just tested the garage on user's profile and it seems to work.
Are you still having difficulties with this?

Let us know if you all need anything,

Ed

Yea....I just tried clicking on your garage and nothing opened. I can ,however go to the top of this page and click on garage and click on the individual list of members garages and see some photos. If I try and comment on any thread though I have to hit go advanced as the quick reply won't post .......I know it sounds weird.:|

Aha......I have an update of my own. Seems whatever specific changes were made here on this site were being blocked from my browser and require me to simply allow the content to view the things that were not visible or enabled before. In short ,I can now view members garages, avatars, etc.. as long as I click the popup tab to allow content. I must have some touchy spyware.

Glad to hear that everything is back in working order @RobertO! Please let us know if you notice anything else out of the ordinary.

Cheers,
