Just got a new blue "F" model here in California. I noticed a "clunk' type of noise coming to a stop under heavy braking as well that when pumping the forks up and down with the front brake applied.
Having ridden bikes all my life, ( 7 in my garage at the present time) I suspected a loose steering stem bearings but on a brand new bike???
Long story short, after ordering and receiving a special tool to remove/adjust the stem locknut, I started removing parts to get to it, At least the bracket holding the handlebar was torqued to specs but both the nuts holding the upper bracket and the stem locknut were only finger tight instead of 50 to 60 lbs per factory specs. Gave the the adjusting nut a 1/4 turn and put back everything together with the correct torque. Noise gone.
Beside this issue, love the bike and can't find nothing wrong with the throttle ( maybe because one of my other bike is a 01 ZX12R, talk about on/off throttle switch)

I would call your dealer or Suzuki locale rep and let them know the dealer you bought the bike from cut some corners that could have been catastrophic had you not remedied them. For the record, what's the size of the steering head locknut?

The only clunk I have is a clunk if I roll the bike backwards and use the front brakes to stop me from rolling. But floating calipers will always make some clunks here and there.

Glad you like the bike, I also haven't noticed any throttle problems. I guess we should consider ourselves lucky.

The nut that retain the stem upper bracket is 36mm but the locknut and adjusting nut are different and need a special tool. I got mine here: Steering Head Locknut Tool

I believe the front wheel is attached to the bike while in the crate. YouTube has 'out of the crate' video's too for the keen one's.
Other than a test ride, the Dealer won't look for loose fork bearings in a new bike at PD.


Sorry that you paid for the tool, but really you should have returned the bike for a warranty inspection. Based on your bike, Suzuki needs to be informed by the Dealer System as I would think if 1 bike is affected, there should be a Safety Recall of all bikes worldwide to check them all.

In the UK, the dealer is supposed to do a final check before the bike leaves the shop. A recall for one bike is a bit over the top in my opinion. Maybe a service bulletin out the the shops to double check if they start getting a few reported back but really, this should have been picked up before it left the showroom.
Very basic, very naughty. Not acceptable!

All good points but, beside the hassle of going there, etc, I simply don't trust dealers to do the work as well and as carefully than me. Same reason why I adjust valves myself on all my bikes.
Here is a list of my current bikes

1999 Suzuki Bandit 1200. 46,000 miles... I just love this bike
2000 Kawasaki ZRX 1100. 21,000 miles... Green of course. Such a classic that people believe that it is an 80' bike
2001 Kawasaki ZX12-R. 26,000 miles... Raw horsepower and a real on/off switch for a throttle. But you get used to it
2004 Yamaha FZ1. 26,000 miles... One of the best bike ever made. Fast, comfortable, great brakes,
2011 Kawasaki Ninja 1000. 17,000 miles... Great engine and very good looking bike ( to me)
2014 Kawasaki Ninja 1000. 20,000 miles... Same than the '11 but with ABS and traction control and slightly better brake and suspension
2016 Suzuki GSX-S1000F, 1,500 miles... Fast, light, agile, and 1 of the best/most comfortable seat ever made

Excellent selection of bikes there Luc:)
Great to see you hold the S1000F in high regard when it's compared to that list. Given a few little tweeks and I'm pretty sure it will fast become one of your favorites:laugh:

I totally agree with the seat being one of the best ever made. This is the only bike I've ridden for more than an hour without my ass getting hot spots.
