I can get a new set for $560 NewZealand which is about £280.
Or I can also get a set of Michelin power threes for $500.

Can anyone confirm that these tires are ok and will be fine for an old bugger like me?

I have run the Angel GT for a few years now, had them on my GSXR750, then on the GSXS1000, then stepped it up to the GT II, really like them, I will be due new tyres soon, considering the Michelin Road 6 for better mileage, only getting about 7-8000km out of the Pirelli, haven’t quite decided yet.
Cannot comment on the Power 3’s

Most of my riding is for fun, not commuting

Don't put yourseves out guys, I have bought the Pirelli Angel GT tires.
The bike has 27,000km and is currently running Metzlers which are nearing the end of their life.

I like new tires whatever they are.

I ran them for years on my old Bandit and loved them, though once production moved out of Germany they started wearing strangely and I had a few weird events where the rear lost a lot of pressure in a day. Grip was always good though.

This tire is absolute crap for me, very slippery on corners. Angel ST is completely different story - very good. Speaking of riding them on different motorcycles than gsx, but impression is there wan't be much difference. Buy Metzeler instead.

Hi Uncle,
For the record I have ran all of the above Pirelli tyres here in the UK with the following results REAR's :- GT run from Mar to Aug 6153 miles, GT II Aug to Feb 5557miles, GT II Feb to June 4593miles, I have run an ST rear for 3 months then took it off to save for next summer, I have had punctures in both a GT & GT II after short distances which is y I am removed the ST to put on a GT with repair to run over winter. I dont think there is any extra value in the GT II over the GT ! Fronts :- GT run from Apr to Sept (summer) 8448miles, GT II Sept to Jul (winter) 8194miles.currently running a GT. All in all I think for me I will stick with the GT's as can't justify the extra cost of GT II's, performance wise both seam the same to me but I like speed but the right time and place but also like admiring the view as I go along. currently I use my bike all year round and do about 14000 miles/yr. Hope that helps.

the michi power 3's are great tyres, i find the power 5's are better for grip, road 5 last abit longer but with less dry grip, but other tyres i can recomend are metzler m7rr. or their roadtec 01, they are superb wet or dry, and last well
