As I am sure most of you know the GSX-S1000 and the GSX-S1000F both debuted at Intermot in Cologne, Germany this week. While the GSX-S1000 was expected, people were pleasantly surprised by the debut of its faired cousin the GSX-S1000R.

The GSX-S1000 is being described as a modern naked superbike, and its cousin is basically the same with a fairing and some headlamps and a visor. Personally, I'm a bit more excited about the faired version as it should stop wind and bugs from flying in my face when i am cruising down the highway.

The engine in both version is a 999cc in-line 4-cylinder that was previously used in the Suzuki GSX-R1000 superbike. Suzuki says that the engine will provide great low to mid range power, though the company has not released figures on horsepower or torque as of yet.

Taking a look at the brakes now, they are provided by Brembo. There are twin discs at the front, and a single disc at the back. There is also an ABS option available.

Right now we have no word on a release date or pricing. Likely, we will have to wait until next year to get our hands on these new Suzuki bikes.
