But it still makes me wonder why the OPs traction control did not kick in on level 2.. puzzled to be honest... if anything wet conditions with low grip allow for wheel spinning crazily... thats definitely above the threshold in dry conditions for what traction control was designed... in my opinion it should have kicked in a lot more...

I remember when i was on level 2 and my bike slipped off the side of the tarmac onto the sand on the outside... i was accelerating past a bus and my rear tyre for an instant started to violently drift from side to side... i was doing 50miles... i thought this was done for... **** tc kicked in heavy bought the rear tyre to centre and i was saved...

2 does allow speed difference though, you can get the front lifted in two. Not high. But you can.

He didn't drift, the wheel spun and started it wobbling. And that little bit is all it needed in the conditions. I don't find it surprising, myself, since tc2 can lift the wheel in dry. (albeit barely). The bike will cut in and keep it under control to its parameters.

3 is the only one that stops wheel spin immediately, when it detects it.

I had one tank slapper on my old FZ1 scared the chit out of me. Glad to hear you didn't crash!! As far as the TC is concerned I have seen the light go on while I was wicking up in the mountains the bike didn't feel like it slowed down all that much. So if I'm riding like a idiot going in to a curve with too much speed I don't think TC is going to save my a$$. I think it's more important to hone my skills in trail braking rather than relying on TC.
Well TC will not help you one bit if you are going into a corner HOT. The only application of TC would happen when you are applying throttle accelerating on a straight or out of a corner.

When you change your tires, put a 190/55 on the back. It’ll tip into corners much better and feel as good, if not better, than your two BMWs.

just seems strange getting a tank slapper at 50 60 mph no matter what setting your on...when both wheels are on the road at those speeds,,,,the 50 tire size now seem to have more of a shape of the 55...i have the 55 now,,,ill be going back to the 50,,,,if and when my 21s ever where out

i not a fan of the lack of control device, when i bought the bike the salesman was talking it up, i think i only used it for a day or two before getting pissed off , another word to name it would be the anti fun button, the only position it remains on - is off, even then it annoys via the glowing yellow light on the dash, this system can only potentially aid you if you engage too much throttle leaving a corner, but you had better not be expecting it to help if your at a reasonable lean angle , as its more likely to give you a new experience - highsiding.
another point is that in an event of power sliding , especially due to wet or a slippery substance, being able to retain drive to aid recovery is vital in my experience, this system is more likely to kill you than save you, dont get me started about abs braking either !
