This isn't a willy waving thread more like a fact finding thread.
Now a few of these bikes are out in the wild has anyone reached top speed and if you have what was it?
I've hit 136mph on the autobahn obviously and had quite a bit more to give. I'm thinking nearer 160 for top end but I think the F will be more comfortable hitting that speed.

i will tell you when i have done the following

1. confirmed that the "F" model has finally arrived in Norway
2. confirmed that it has arrived at the dealer
3.waited for the parts to be shipped to Norway for the fix
4. waited for dealer to apply the fix and release the bike to me
5.waited until the snow has melted for next years bike season
6. registered the bike in early 2016
7. run the bike in for around 1000km
8. visit a country where i can get out of 2nd legally and talk about it online without being arrested and loosing my licence

guess it could be a while :(

But hey, that's what's great about the Internet, you can legally talk about speeding all you want, I can't imagine you could get a citation :)

I thought I read somewhere they are geared to 155mph.
Dont think I want to find out, done 125 on the gisser 600 I got at an airfield ;-) and that was enough for me.

That would seem to tally with the amount of revs I had left.
I have this thing about hitting top speed on any bike I own mainly because of the one question non bikers ask when talking about the bike, "How fast does it go mate?"
I think 155 is going to have to be an airfield run.

135 MPH was my max and I hit 120 on a regular/weekly basis. I could have gone a lot faster but I couldn't hang on because of the wind blast. I have a Puig screen now so I'm sure I'll get it up there faster, just have to have enough open road. 120 is easy. Heck, I hit 105 with my Ford Edge V6 a lot. The Gixxes hits 120 so fast I can practically do it in between traffic lights :)

Has anyone else noticed that you accelerate so quickly through 80mph that the speedo cant really keep up

Oh I see, so 10k RPM in 6th is the sweet spot.
Thanks for that.
I wouldn't really say that. If you look at dyno graphs for our bikes, the engine makes at least as much power at 11k as it does at 10k, if not a bit more. See my attached picture which is supplied by M4. Even with stock exhaust, it's making great power right at the rev limiter.

The redline is 11,500 rpm. So whatever speed you're doing at half that (5750 rpm) is how fast the bike can go times two if it has the power to pull redline in top gear. Today 6K showed 85 mph. Assuming this to be accurate for argument sake, 5750 pm would equate to 95.8% of that or 81.5 mph for a theoretical maximum of 163 mph. I believe the bike has the power to do this so the only other basic variable is aerodynamics. But the magazines (and Nixonkid) have validated that so I'd vote for a max of 160 mph (at sea level for stock-gearing, stock-body-parts Gixes). [BTW we know that the Bonneville salt flats is not at sea level and has a semi slippery salt surface, right?]
