I Googled this up and see that there are hundreds of forums with exactly the same statement.
Weird and puzzling, please enlighten me/us.
And they all say

All of these sites I'm seeing with this post are owned by VerticalScope, including this one. VerticalScope was purchased by Torstar in 2015, and I'd guess Torstar is just now getting around to monetizing the VerticalScope sites.

Little bummed to see this; I've seen other forums go straight to **** once they get monetized: banner ads all over the **** place, at least one post in ten is from an advertiser account. We've been really lucky to have such a clean forum so far; basically just left to ourselves. I get that somebody has to pay to host this, and they surely expect to be making money on it, I just hope it doesn't ruin the site.
