Where did you ride today?

I did 205 miles today through West Utah mountains and desert.
Today's route was Utah 201 west to I-80 west. SR 138 to Grantsville, Mormon Trail to SR 199. SR199 west over Johnson's Pass, with some nice twisties and beautiful tarmac. I took SR199 to Dugway, then headed north and looped back to Johnson's Pass on the old Lincoln Highway. As I headed back towards SLC, I could see some thunderstorms up ahead so I filled my tank in Tooele, did a 180 and headed south on SR 73. made it back without getting hit by a drop of water, but my bike was a mess because all the roads in the Salt Lake valley were soaked from the storm that had just passed. My wife said she was worried sick because it was really high wind, lightening, hail, and tons of rain. Glad I missed it.

While out in the middle of nowhere I hit a top speed of 141, I very quickly came up on some rolling terrain that made me back off because I didn't have enough view of the road ahead. That's the fastest I've gone on a bike, and the bike had plenty of stuff left. I'll have to admit... that was freaky. FREAKY FUN!!!

The bike was just amazing. Freeway, twisties, backroads... It just does everything so well.

Breaking in the new Metzeler M5 tires to our farm 44 miles away (the long way), and first time on 55 sidewalls!! You guys were right on about waking up the handling when you switch to the 55 sidewalls, me likely it even more now!! hahaha

A few roads to the farm, speed limit is 45mph W/fines doubled. (if caught!) Very hilly road, great place to power wheelie off the hill tops!!

I know this curve up close and personally!! Almost crashed in it the first time we rode to the farm. Friend of mine chased me into the guys front yard!! I went up to the weed line and was able to turn my 1990 750 Ninja away and not go down, he only went part of the way, and he didn't go down either!!!

At our farm about to cross our $1,500 dollar bridge. (It washed out on use 3 times before I said no more and built this ugly monster)

hi treavor, ive worked up a couple of those dr's, they have crazy tall gearing stock, and a very restricted airbox, a jet kit plus boring a couple of 1" holes gets them responding better, togeather with a smaller front sprocket, i made a tapered s/steel header and muffler for one, the ex port has a restricter inside that i removed to allow the exhaust to flow better, oh and the stock fork springs are really soft

Thanks
Yep I’ve had a dr before. As soon as it’s broke in I already have the jet kit, Yoshimura exhaust and a smaller front sprocket. 🙂 And I’ll be doing a full suspension upgrade too. I’ll have an $11,000 Dr650! LOL but it’ll be awesome!!

I took a quick ride to Jonas Ridge and stopped at the overlook for a quick pic. 74 degrees on December 26th, I’ll take it. Loads of bikes at the store and I ran into one of my young old riding buddies. I have been riding with him for over 8 years but he’s only 27 years old.

That's really cold. It's too cold here to ride for me. Highs in the mid 30s. BTW, I own a Jeep too that's my DD. ;)

Just home after 5 days riding the high country in south east Australia, finding as many corners as possible. Great roads, good company and dodged most of the bad weather except from Jindabyne to Thredbo.

Jeff I have relatives that live in Casino and Lismore so I sort of understand. We also had a rider in our group that made his way home to Mount Tambourine QLD, that would have been an interesting ride!

Went riding the other day with my group, temps were about 60F. Where we had snow and lots of run off, I knew we had a good chance of running into ice/snow that had not melted yet. Sure enough, I passed our group and set off for the up coming corners. Got to the this area that hardly ever sees sunlight. ICE/SLUSH on both sides of the road. I emergency broke and told the group thru my Sena what was up ahead. It was crazy seeing that much ice and slush still on the roads at 60F!! So my point to this story is, never assume the roads might be clear on a warm day after snow and warming up enough for a ride!! Sure glad we weren't coming the other way, nothing but a sheet of ice for about 4 car lengths. At least on our side it wasn't too bad, mostly slush and a little ice. Wish I hadn't deleted my GoPro footage so I could snap a picture for you guys.

Hey Des,
Mate it's been pretty crazy it's been like none stop P ing down rain for a couple of days.
I feel sorry for your relative's its really bad down there.
I think what's tipped it over the edge is that we have had a fair amount of rain over the last couple of months before the big downpour so the ground really hadn't had a chance to dry out.
This summer has been the coolest that I can remember it's like when is summer going to start?
I bet your mate had fun ridng to MT Tamborine might be worth getting a jet ski.
