Hi , i'm seriously considering inquiring the gsx-s1000 despite Being a complete Noobie to riding , i know this is in general a bad idea But hear me out :

- i'm in My 30 ( no wheliee , no crazy stuff ) which will bring us yo your question why inquiring a Liter Bike then ? i really felt in love with it and i feel it the best Bang of the bank over there
- i live in a place with no twesstie , no moutain .... just highway and cities
- i'm not gonna change Bike for a long time

would appreciate some feedback regarding the handling if it would be too much for me to handle , considering i'm calm and reasonable person i will totally drive within my limit and respect the Bike ( and By respect i mean pissing my pants of fear ) in other word is it too much to handle for a Newbie respecting him self ?

p.s : im 5"7 and i can flatfooted and feel completely comfortable on it

Lunacy!

It's your money, it's your life but you are mad to consider this as a first bike!

When you get it wrong, and as a new rider you will (we all do), this thing will kill you!

It's too fast, delivers epic power in far too rapid fashion for a novice. A slight twist of the throttle and this thing takes off and just keeps going. If you get a snatchy throttle, most are as it's tied to fuelling for new emission regulations, it WILL catch you out.

In the UK the riding exams where changed some years ago. Younger riders are forced to take 2 modules in 3 separate training levels with saddle time between each. A1,A2 and the Full A, licensing and testing was introduced to ensure new riders get sufficient saddle time to gain experience to handle larger machines. As frustrated as new riders get, they realise the sense of it.

I've been riding 27 years and I'm still stunned at the power of this beast. I also ride regularly with a young friend. He rides an XJ6SP and I can tell you that's much more manageable and he has no trouble keeping up with my modified F.

Do yourself a huge favour, listen to the guys on this forum. This is NOT the bike for you as a first ride, get a 600, Christ knows they are fast enough. Stay away from the Gixxus until your ready, give it a couple of years gaining the essential skills to stay alive.

I know it's been almost 4 years ago that you posted your question, I wonder if you ever got the GSXS 1000 bike or what did you end up getting after all?

Wow, you guys gave this guy so much good advise and he never came back with a final decision as to what bike he bought.

Could it be that he got the GSXS1000 and killed himself?

Looks like the virus lock down is giving folks the time to plumb the depths of the forum and that is no bad thing.(y)
There is some interesting stuff at the start when we didn't know very much about the bike except that it was a 1000cc naked. Also some time elapsed before an "F" version was announced.

Good to read this old Thread again, and there have been a few more since on the same vein.
It reminded me of the good people since 2015 who contributed to this Forum, stayed for while in the discussions and now have moved on a fallen a bit quiet now.
With new Members coming on board since replacing them over this time, the GSX-S1000 has demonstrated the appealing qualities of this great bike we all like.

As for Hassan, he bought a used camel after he decided on one hump or two humps was best for him to learn on.

Been riding since I was a kid, 3 wheelers, 4 wheelers, dirt & street bikes, snowmobiles...originally from western NY...winter...YUCK. 42 now.

anyways, there of course are LOTS of opinions on this. Who is right...🤷🏻‍♂️
I did not read through them all, just gonna give my thoughts quick. Is late, will read through tomorrow.

It is 100% possible for this bike to be a little pussycat as much as you want. Extremely easy to ride, very forgiving & docile.
If you can afford it, buy a cheap used sport 500/600/cruiser750/1100/1300cc
Cheap, easy to learn on, not a big deal if you drop. Get your riding legs under you, then go liter bike. They truly are NOT for everybody.
The smaller bikes are a blast, & you may find, "man...this is plenty for me"
Or, you'll get comfortable & say...I'm ready for a 130hp+ liter bike.

Cheap & used smaller bike! Should be everyones 1st IMHO

I did start riding with a 1000cc used carburated ZX10 Tomcat from 89. And I couldnt see myself goin 600 for some stupid reason because now that I have the GSXS I would love to try a 600 supersport. BUT... I recomment this bike to ANYONE who wants just one bike do it all. As long as you are not throttle happy and take your time learning its a very good buy. Get the ecu flashed and you are good forever with this beast.

600's are ok. Buddy has a 2013 zx636
Great bike. Have been on 08 cbr600 too & a bunch of others. They are enough for sure, just gotta keep them in happy spot above 7-8000rpm for it to really pull.
Where you can lug a 1000 & they'll still pull pretty good.

I say go for it. The only thing you might have trouble with is the throttle. It’s not as smooth as other bikes, and learning on it might be more difficult. The problem is not you controlling yourself. It’s getting used to the bike, and learning how to ride.
I learned on a Kawasaki ninja 300. I rode that bike about two weeks and bought a ZX10R, and didn’t look back. Until my old body gave up on it and bought this gsxs1000z. Contrary to what some might say, this bike is pretty slow.

Pretty slow? Compared to the current crop of supersports I'd say it's average sure, but only on a track. If you bought it purely for track riding then I'd say you purchased incorrectly. For the street, who needs more power? Unless you provide context your statement is idiotic at best.

People that have NEVER rode a MC before tend to do 2 things, fixate on a hazard and freeze on the throttle.
Prove to YOURSELF that you can overcome these 2 simple things on a machine that won’t go over 25 mph in first gear.

just my advice
I know what you mean! My hand froze in the full throttle position today ripping through the gears OH Baby! 🥰
