What's the difference between motorcycle GPS and regular Garmin GPS? I find the motorcycle GPS to be so much more expensive?
I don't know how you define "regular Garmin GPS" because they have many, many models designed for different purposes. The motorcycle GPS units are weatherproof, glove touch responsive, and have features like "Adventure Routing" to name a few.

My analogy of what MySpin actually is, vs. what it should/could be....

"MS-DOS vs. Windows 11 :ROFLMAO:

I had zero interest in spending time trying to figure out all the inadequacies of the MySpin, and then up still having something that is woefully bad....so, Garmin XT to the rescue again.

I'd argue that DOS did everything it should and everything you wanted it to, whereas every Windows release has been an unstable mess with a bloated kernel and a plethora of unnecessary services taking up valuable resources. There is a reason most efficient computing devices run a variation of the Linux kernel.

But I digress ;)

Late to the party here but Pixel6 / ruroc atlas4.0 with shockwave wave seems to work ok for me thus far . Just need to explore trying some of the side apps . But big improvement having the bike screen interface and handlebar controls .As just phone to helmet was difficult to do anything from phone on a quad lock mount on the move. Really had to hold in the power button to voice command and that was 50/50

I have to disagree

The app is just a massive disappointment all around

All they had to do was use Google maps, and allow the phone keyboard and most people would be happy

To actually be good it just needed to support Apple / Android wireless carplay

I'm just waiting for the system to be popular enough to be hacked so we can just load whatever we want on the screen

It's actually a great little screen. If I'm at 0km/h, why can't I watch Netflix on it?

I never really watch tv or netflix on my car screen unless rarely waiting on the wife coming out of a shop or something, cant think of a reason to sit on my bike watching boxsets lol thats extreme. I know what you mean but . Even just phone mirroring would open up a lot of gimmicky functions to keep most people happy even for just the novelty of it as its a really decent screen aching for some more action. Would be nice to show internet pages on your bike screen and stuff .
I guess the wifi and bluetooth combo should be able to transmit a decent video / audio signal bitrate but can the cpu and ram??
Or is that near its limit with background bike running information along with music and nav going at the same time to and from a phone and potential 2x helmets.
I cant answer that. Id rather put a tablet in my side luggage .

For me personally it works , it connects well and stable, and i dont want too many distractions .
I can start my playlist and either go to one of the navs or back to the main gauge screen if i want to flip between drive modes on the go.

Keep safe , eyes on the road !

As far as I know, a stream is a stream.

If it can display a map, it should be able to display anything.

It's just annoying that Bosch (the company that actually designed and built the software / hardware MySpin platform) have decided to dig in on "your phone will be disabled" as the key "feature" of their platform.

I wonder why it never caught on?!(/sarcasm)

I tried MySpin for about 10 minutes, before I realized my Android phone has to remain unlocked for it to work properly. That's ridiculous. Between that and the poor selection of no-name apps, I decided to buy another mounting kit for my Garmin 396 LMT-S and will be just using that for navigation instead.

Side note... hard-wiring a GPS on this bike is interesting, since there are no easily accessible "wire paths" from the front of the bike into the under-tank compartment. I think I'm going to follow the hard brake line so that I can fit under the plastic ignition cover(s).
Why don’t you just use USB port on dash?

Right, that's exactly why I didn't want my phone running in that state. Even if you plug it in, that kind of power drain means the CPU is working pretty hard, and I don't really want that for my phone.

I like my solution. Just finished wiring it up. Simple, clean, and I can still mount my phone if I want to using a separate (cushioned) phone mount.

What kind of gps mount do you use?

Thread titled "Myspin App, Let's Talk About It" dominated by comments like "What kind of gps mount do you use".

This sums it up for me. The MySpin app is garbage and I'm frustrated with Suzuki for knowing and ignoring that. We have these fantastic screens that could add so much utility on a sport touring machine and we're resorting to third party hardware for navigation. Sigh.

Just one of the reasons for why I sold my GT

Anyone have a recommendation on using the navigation features? I haven't downloaded anything yet, but I do have a trip scheduled for this weekend and I want to try it out. I will use an iPhone 7 if that matters.

Save yourself the headaches and just use your iPhone's navigation.

So it has been almost 2 years owning this bike. I gave up on the Myspin after a few months. A few weeks ago I reloaded the app on my new iphone. Went through the setup which I noticed had changed since the introduction of the app. At first I had issues with it not connecting to the wifi part. Kept telling me location services was not enabled. It was and clearly said so. So I got to thinking this is a phone issue, rebooted iphone and it started working on the wifi connect part. It still will prompt me for the Suzuki wifi if I am in my garage and the house wifi interacts with it. I can deal with that. The last part was back in the beginning I never got my Cardo headset to connect properly through the bike. Now I have that done and it was easy. I have the Cardo app on my phone and activated it to work through the bikes dash. Same with the Rever app and a music app Litt Live. They are all working through the bikes dash setup now. Shows my contacts and the base map. It is not good for navigation imo due to the lock out when moving. I still use a Garmin Zumo 396 for navigation but do like the larger map on the bikes dash to aide in showing me a larger view of where I am. I have used it all a few times and it all connects easily except when my home wifi interferes which is easily corrected by telling it to join the Suzuki app when prompted. Not saying this Myspin from Suzuki is 100% without fault but neither is my Carplay in my Corvette or my GMC truck which are both new vehicles. The GMC truck has been back to the dealer for the bad Carplay connection and they fixed it with a hard wire update then.

old thread I know. I will mount my Garmin, use the handy 5v. power plug and not bother with phone or MySpin. Kawasaki Rideology app is no better. Besides, I bet the fuzz can see your speed...

Okay guys I am going to provide a picture. Actually a few. One shows my iPhone and helmet comm are clearly connected but the other pic shows its greyed out to get to anything from my phone to the bikes screen.
I can do things in the mySPIN app from my phone but it doesn’t project to my screen.

any ideas?
