I just set up the MySpin on my bike. Everything seems to work. I have all my music stored on my phone and it shows on the bike screen, maps works, cardo works. I never use android auto in my truck so this is pretty new to me. I really just want some music and the maps for when I get myself lost. Once I get to use it out on the road I'll reassess whether I like it. I'd rather have my phone in my pocket than on the handlebars but I may end up there.

I have been using it, and I am starting to get used to it. First don’t use sygic it sucks. Use REVER, and get the pro version. You can get directions and it can find the curviest route to your destination. Plus some other cool features including off road routes. You get it for free if you sign up for cycle gear’s rpm membership.

I would suggest a tank lock tank bag. You can run a usb into it and keep your phone plugged in. The Ogio bags have the power cord inlet on the front left corner making it a perfect shot to the usb on my 1000gt

I agree it is disappointing. It was one of the reasons I chose the 1000gt over other smaller tourers. I would be ok with it if it had any streaming app like pandora with the ability to get back to your map screen if you navigate away to check another screen etc. It is not fully useless though. If you have a communication device pair it first and don’t connect it to your mySPIN app. Use REVER make sure it is muted and that it is overriding the auto screen lock. Does anyone know if the unit is capable of being updated, either by the owner or Suzuki?

I tried MySpin for about 10 minutes, before I realized my Android phone has to remain unlocked for it to work properly. That's ridiculous. Between that and the poor selection of no-name apps, I decided to buy another mounting kit for my Garmin 396 LMT-S and will be just using that for navigation instead.

Side note... hard-wiring a GPS on this bike is interesting, since there are no easily accessible "wire paths" from the front of the bike into the under-tank compartment. I think I'm going to follow the hard brake line so that I can fit under the plastic ignition cover(s).

Having to be unlocked is pretty ridiculous, but to me it’s worth having a decent map, on an awesome screen in the ideal location for viewing. Plug your phone in. When you are actively using mySPIN it has your screen in a partially locked state.

My big complaint about myspin is that it drains the phone battery like crazy while navigating. I might look into a phone mount with a wireless charger.
Right, that's exactly why I didn't want my phone running in that state. Even if you plug it in, that kind of power drain means the CPU is working pretty hard, and I don't really want that for my phone.

I like my solution. Just finished wiring it up. Simple, clean, and I can still mount my phone if I want to using a separate (cushioned) phone mount.

That would look cleaner without the handlebar mounted gps. Even when my phone wasn’t plugged in it wasn’t draining my battery any more than if I was just using it for navigation itself. To me it’s worth having one less piece of electronics. Plus to be able to put in a destination and have it spit out the curviest route there is pretty cool. Trust me I’m disappointed also, but not enough to mount a garmin on my handlebars.

To each their own. It's a fork stem RAM mount so it's not actually on the handlebars and looks good and clean to me. Garmin's adventure routing isn't too shabby either. Each solution has positives and negatives.

That's the exact same setup I got with my 396 LMT-S. Is that the evotech mount?

How do you build routes for the garmin? I use Calimoto on my laptop then export the gpx then import it to my garmin but it complains about too many points and splits the routes.

No, it's the RAM fork stem mount. It's a little finicky but I think it'll do the job: RAM Mount Motorcycle Fork Stem Base with 1 inch Ball

I haven't actually planned routes before, for the most part I use the GPS to find my way home after I get lost exploring. But if I were to do so, I'd probably try using Garmin BaseCamp, as that is what I use to manage off-road tracks from my Garmin 64st that I turn into GPX maps for a local off-road club I'm a part of, it works really well for that.

Myspin sucks… as long there is no carplay, it’s rubbish. Ans it sucks the phone battery as crazy… that’s why there is usb connector near the display, but there should have been one in the boot as well.
Now that I've ripped the bike apart front to back, it would actually be pretty simple to install a USB dongle in the boot, or even better, an aftermarket fuse block. Everything rear of the battery is super accessible and comes apart easily with just a few screws.
