Sportier Handlebars

I've seen a lot of posts about handlebar risers, but I haven't seen anything about lowering them.
Coming from sportbikes, I find the handlebars to be too high and wide.
Unfortunately, at full lock, it doesn't seem like there is more than an inch of wiggle room to the tank.
Has anybody tried more of a straight bar or something to make the hand position a little more sporty?
Thanks...

Hmmm...
Is there even clearance for clip-ons, under the triple?
I wasn't thinking about going that low.
Maybe 1" down, 1" toward the seat, and 1"-2" in, would be enough?

I saw flatter bars on Revzilla, but no one seems to be talking about them.
As mentioned, it seems like everyone wants to make them taller.
Hehehe...

Yes. Tank and fairing clearance is the issue. I'm also from a sportbike background (Have a GSXR-1000 K5 for canyon and track days). I wanted shorter more forward handlebars too (I have gorilla arms). I put on the bars from a GSX-750. 56111-13K10 Their pricey but work and the "GSX-S1000" logo I think looks cool through the space in the handlebar mount. I think they're about 0.6" narrower, 0.9"shorter, 0.6" forward. The way I have them rotated my thumbs will get slightly smashed between the grips and the fairing at full turn.

As mentioned earlier any tapered handlebar will fit the grips and mount. The problem is fairing/tank clearance.

Interesting...
So, that still looks like a handlebar that's raised above the center.
I'm guessing drag bars wouldn't work, then.
If you have a picture of centered and at full lock, that would be cool to see.

I thought about drag bars as that'[s what I ended up putting on my Gen1 FZ1.
You probably could use drag bars on the GT as that would pull them a little farther forward from hitting the tank. Problem would still be clearance to the fairing. You'd have to rotate them up to where they'd be flat or even pointing up a little. Not sloped down like a sportbike.

I just pulled the fairing apart last night to make some mods under the tank. Won't be all back together for a week and a half I expect (waiting for parts). I'll see about setting the faring in place tomorrow and take some pics to show clearances (ignore other missing bodywork).

I personally wouldn't get something as important as handlebars from Ali Express. Earlier in the thread I linked to a handlebar reference, what you're showing here are basically drag bars and they're unlikely to work with the GT. They'd hit the tank or fairing or both.

I'm finishing up installing Renthal 847 bars. Coming from Renthal 819 bars, these are 30mm lower, and still lower than stock. Once I take these for a ride, I'll let you guys know how they work out, but I think they'll be a winner for low bars on the GT. I like to change things up on occasion as you can tell. One thing to note is I am using the Renthal bar ends which can allow you to widen your effective bar length.

Just got back from a 175 mile ride with the 847s. Great stuff! Despite being much lower than my previous bars, they're more comfortable. I'm able to support my core a lot better with these. Very happy. If you have giant hands, they may contact the tank at full lock. The clutch cable and brake hose from the MC to the frame are slightly too long, but they've got plenty of room without being pinched or bunched up. I am using the Renthal bar ends as extenders to put the ends of the grips at 29.25" wide. The stock bars were fine height wise, but too narrow and had a weird bend I could never quite get used to. The 819s were just too high for this particular bike. Problem solved.

I was looking into some probrake clip ons but I highly doubt they would work since suzuki left minimal room between the triples and plastics... I also looked into the clip on adapters however suzuki used a weird angled bar clamp.. My first bar I'll be trying is the renthal 846. I'll try to combat the low tank clearance by using some 5mm offset bar clamps to replace the oem ones (that's in theory of they happen to work). This should make the riding position much sportier because I'm looking for that cross between sport bike and hard cases that I loved from the Ktm superduke gt but wanted the inline 4. Recently ordered Sato racing rearsets and plan run them highest and further back to get my knees hugging the tank. (I'm 5'6 and they barely touch the tank).
