Mine goes in Tuesday for 1st service, My dealer is also doing a free 1st service which i'm very pleased about :)

going to order the clear side tank protectors as well.

I've actually gone over the mileage, done over 800 miles so looking forward to getting 1st service out of the way. I have been opening it up a bit more anyway and can confirm the wheel lifts on traction control setting one!!!! :)

Anyone else think replacing iridium spark plugs every 7500 miles is ridiculous? The manual for my DL650 says the same thing. I'm approaching 40,000 miles on the original plugs without the slightest problem.

What will service intervals on the Suzuki GSX-S1000 be like?
...It's 600, 4000, 7500, 11000 and 14500 or yearly...
The service interval is in the owners manual, never trust the dealers info, they never look in the book. The first valve inspection is at 14500. Sync at 7500 (600 in California) but 9 times out of 10 the sync is fine for a long time. An owner can easily do all the other stuff. I do all my own work. None of my bikes have seen a dealer since a warranty claim in the 70s.

Read the book page 6-5. For Europe and Oceania countries.

It's 600 7500 1500 22500 30000 miles or annually.

The only thing I'd be worried about on a long change interval is carbon buildup on any part exposed in the combustion chamber, then having the threads in the head pull out when you do eventually go to change the plugs.
I tried to help a neighbor years back change the pugs on his Mitsubishi. Each one came out about a 1/2 turn, then locked up. I told him to leave them until the car dies, or risk a very large repair bill now.
My Scion xB specifies every 30k miles, and I change them right at that mileage (3 sets so far).

On another note, is a dealer service required for future warranty claims in Europe? Here in the US, we're somewhat protected from that scam by the Magnuson-Moss warranty act.

In the UK warranty is ok as long as a VAT registered garage does the work.
